Kurt,

Thanks for speaking at Believe. My students, staff, and I were blessed by your messages.

Peace,

I'd love to hear some practical steps for not getting into the 'overwhelmed' situation to begin with. I'm just finishing up my 3rd year of full-time ministry. Right now, there's not much chance I'll get really overwhelmed (except during the summer camp season). Nobody is calling me to speak at conferences, I'm not even the 3rd best speaker to come out of my youth group, so my home church isn't begging me to come guest speak, and I don't have the time or resources to film small group curriculum. But, God willing, I might be blessed with opportunities like those in the future. How do you keep the main thing the main thing as responsiblities grow over time?

Great question Kurt. One I ask myself each and every morning when I step into my office. Better question would be "where does it end?" Breaking that down...when can I sit down and be content with what I'm doing so that I don't drive myself insane!! ;O)

I am getting to that point, I was brought in over a year ago to be the youth/sports pastor. And at the beginning all was well, but this year, it seems that the more I am getting involved with our students, the less time I have or even want to spend on the sports outreach.

Definitely feel that way. Theres soooo much we can do in ministry and have to consistently be placing the emphasis somewhere. I hate saying no to new opportunities...but in my short time in ministry I think its one of the keys to longevity.
